I’m Sam — the founder of Gutted Clothing Co, born and raised in Alice Springs and later moving to the Riverland region of South Australia. This brand was created from my personal journey living with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and a passion for raising awareness for a condition that is so often misunderstood or confused with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).

In September 2025, my life changed suddenly when I began experiencing severe symptoms that eventually led to an emergency transfer to the Royal Adelaide Hospital. After countless appointments, tests, and nearly a week in hospital, I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis.

Living with a chronic illness comes with many challenges, highs, and lows, but it completely changed my perspective on health and life. Throughout everything, my partner Erin has been by my side supporting me every step of the way, while also helping bring this brand to life.

After my diagnosis, I became passionate about spreading awareness and supporting organisations such as Crohn’s & Colitis Australia. While researching, I realised there were very few clothing brands actively advocating for the IBD community — and that’s where the idea for Gutted Clothing Co. began.

This brand is more than just clothing. It’s about awareness, resilience, and creating conversations around invisible illnesses that deserve more recognition and understanding.
