OUR STORY
Hi there! Welcome to Gutted Clothing Co. Behind Gutted Clothing Co. are Sam and, Erin — a young couple from the Riverland region in South Australia, passionate about spreading awareness for Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), which is often mistaken for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
In September 2025, Sam experienced something people don’t usually like talking about — he found blood (quite a bit of it) in his poop 💩. What followed were countless doctor’s appointments, dozens of stool samples, and more blood tests than we can count. Eventually, things escalated, and Sam was taken to Emergency and flown to the Royal Adelaide Hospital that night.
He spent just under a week in hospital, with Erin by his side, and was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis.
Like most chronic conditions, there are many ups and downs. Thankfully, Sam is currently managing his symptoms with medication. But this experience completely changed our perspective and made us realise how often we take good health for granted.
With Sam’s IBD diagnosis and Erin's background in nursing, we became deeply passionate about raising awareness and supporting organisations like Crohn’s & Colitis Australia.
After doing some research, we discovered there were very few brands actively raising awareness for IBD — and that’s when Sam had the idea: a clothing brand with purpose.
We put our heads together and created the name and logo you now know as Gutted Clothing Co.
